(Measured in $ sales against same time periods, 2006) * Number of reporting companies. With two months to go in 2007, the 82 publishers who report monthly sales to the AAP had total revenue of $8.58 billion through October, a 9.3% increase over the same period in 2006. The biggest gain is in children’s hardcover, a figure skewed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, whose publisher, Scholastic, is one of 14 companies that report in the children’s hardcover segment. The still-small audio and e-book segments are having a good 2007, although audio is also benefiting from big sales of Hallows. Mass market paperback appears to be having the toughest year, with the 10 publishers in that segment reporting a 7.5% decline in year-to-date sales. | ||
