One of the spring titles I was most looking forward to reading was Kim Harrison's The Outlaw Demon Wails [Eos, Feb. 26]. My Harper rep got me hooked a couple of years back, and I've been enjoying Rachel Morgan's adventures ever since—each title inspired by a Clint Eastwood movie (The Good, the Bad and the Undead; For a Few Demons More...). A note at the beginning of this sixth novel in her Hollows series says that this was originally supposed to be where the series ended, so it's not surprising that a lot of old hanging threads are dealt with and tied off. Happily, it looks like she's reconsidered ending the series, and I was very impressed how new threads will carry the series forward. I love watching Rachel, a witch/PI/bounty hunter, evolve and mature in this series. I think the well-drawn secondary characters makes this series work. I love Ivy, Jenks, Matalina and the kids. There's still a lot of life in this undead series.
