October was a strong month for the trade paperback and children's paperback categories and an extraordinary month for e-book sales, according to AAP's monthly sales estimates. E-book sales from the 12 publishers who reported October results soared 254.3%, to $18.5 million, and were up 180.7% in the first 10 months of 2009, to $130.7 million. Sales in the adult paperback and children's paperback segments rose 37.5% and 20.2%, respectively, though sales of trade paperbacks were down in the year-to-date for the 19 publishers that reported revenue. The elhi segment showed signs of life in the month with basal sales up 28.1% and supplemental sales ahead 32.2%. Still, for the first 10 months of 2009, elhi sales were down 16.8%, with basal sales off 22.3%. | ||
