Egmont USA to Close
Egmont Publishing, which put its U.S. division up for sale in October, has announced plans to close the unit. The move, the Danish publisher said, comes after the division failed to establish a “market-leading position” in the States, and attempts to sell the unit failed.
Klipper to Retire from B&N In May
Mitchell Klipper, who, during his 28-year career at Barnes & Noble, oversaw many of the company’s store initiatives, including the launch of its superstores, will retire May 2, the end of the retailer’s fiscal year. He will remain an advisor to the company, which has begun a search for Klipper’s replacement.
Diamond Book Down in 2014
Comics vendor Diamond Book Distributors reported that sales in 2014 were down “slightly,” blaming the decline on the loss of Dark Horse Comics, which switched to a new distributor last year.
AAP Unveils New Look
The Association of American Publishers has revamped its logo and color scheme. The new primary logo uses a bracket to separate AAP from the organization’s full name; secondary logos include AAP and use a bracket to identify each of the organization’s different sectors.
