Lake Union Takes Lonsdale’s ‘Painted Sky’
At Amazon’s Lake Union imprint, Danielle Marshall nabbed world rights, at auction, to Kerry Lonsdale’s Beneath the Painted Sky. Lonsdale, the v-p of programs at the Women’s Fiction Writers Association, was represented by Gordon Warnock at Fuse Literary; the novel marks her debut. Warnock said the book, about a chef looking into the suspicious death of her fiancé in Mexico, received three unpublished-manuscript awards from the Romance Writers of America. Sky is set to be released by Lake Union simultaneously in print and e-book in summer 2016.

Montefiore Moves to Morrow
In a three-book deal, Santa Montefiore has moved from Simon & Schuster to HarperCollins’s William Morrow imprint. Daniel Mallory and Margaux Weisman took North American rights, at auction, from Sheila Crowley at Curtis Brown, London. Montefiore, who is British, will release her first novel with Morrow in fall 2016. The publisher said she has sold more than 1.7 million copies in the U.K. alone. She is married to the historian and author Simon Sebag Montefiore and lives with him and their children in London.

Briefs
Jason Katzman at Skyhorse Publishing took world rights to Betsy Dornbusch’s epic fantasy book Enemy, in a deal brokered by Sara Megibow at KT Literary. The novel is the final installment in the author’s Seven Eyes trilogy; the previous titles in the series were published by the now-shuttered Night Shade Books. Seven Eyes, Megibow said, follows an illegitimate king “returned home to rally forces against an invasion led by a vengeful god.” Enemy is set for a 2016 release.
