Four crime novels debut on our Hardcover Fiction list, set in Mississippi, Wyoming, Arizona, and Florida, respectively. Here’s a look at what percentage of each book’s sales are thanks to regional fans.

As the movie adaptation of Diane Ackerman’s The Zookeeper’s Wife approached its March 31 opening date, the tie-in edition, which published in early February, had its best week yet. Print unit sales are up 15%, bumping it up one notch to #6 in Trade Paper. The 2008 conventional trade paperback is up 84% over the week before, also with its best one-week print unit sales to date.

Another March 31 premiere, the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, is based on Jay Asher’s 2007 YA novel. Print unit sales for the tie-in have increased in each of the three weeks it has been on sale; it’s at #16 in Children’s Frontlist Fiction, up one spot from the week before.

Mind Over Mass

A pair of books that suggest the brain, not the stomach, is the key to weight loss are new to our Hardcover Nonfiction list.

At #4, Wired to Eat by Robb Wolf lays out a program that, the author writes, “will help you rewire your brain and appetite, allowing you to better control your blood sugar, and determine the foods that are right for your health and weight loss.” Wolf is the author of 2010’s The Paleo Solution, which has sold 235K copies in hardcover.

One notch below, in Bright Line Eating, Susan Peirce Thompson writes that her plan, which involves establishing uncrossable boundaries for things such as flour, sugar, and portions, will help the reader “take back control of your brain and live your life as you never have before—Happy, Thin, and Free.”
