Reese Recommends...
The Alice Network, a trade paper original by historical fiction author Kate Quinn, pubbed in June. Sales declined a bit after its first week on sale, then jumped up after Reese Witherspoon announced it as her newest book club pick. Using the hashtag #RWBookClub, Witherspoon described the novel to her 10.3 million Instagram followers as an “exciting and fast-paced story about a pregnant American socialite who teams up with a female ex-spy and a hot-tempered young soldier in the aftermath of WWII.” With a 76% boost in print unit sales from the previous week, the book debuts at #15 on our Trade Paperback list with its best weekly sales to date.

Dog Days of Summer
In Finding Gobi, which debuts at #24 on our Trade Paperback list, ultramarathoner Dion Leonard writes of the stray dog who followed him for 77 miles through the Gobi Desert in June 2016. After the race, she went missing, but he was able to find her again thanks to social media and news coverage.
A young readers’ edition (ages 8–12) and a picture book illustrated by Lisa Manuzak (ages 4–8) follow at the end of August. 20th Century Fox is developing the story for the big screen.
The Purpose-Driven Pup
At #24 in Children’s Frontlist Fiction, Molly’s Story is the third middle grade novel to spin off from W. Bruce Cameron’s A Dog’s Purpose series. The first two tell stories from 2010’s A Dog’s Purpose, which was adapted for a film that opened in January. The new book grew out of the sequel, 2012’s A Dog’s Journey. Books one and two have sold a combined 145K print copies; the third book, which is the first to pub since the movie hit theaters, saw the best first-week sales yet for Cameron’s middle grade books.
