Superstar author Marc Levy hasn’t hit it big in the U.S., where he has been published by AmazonCrossing and Europa Editions, but he’s back on top at home in France, where his latest romantic comedy, A Woman Like Her, was #1 on the fiction bestseller list at the end of May. Since Everything Passes, a collection from journalist Claire Chazal, who died in 2015, was the bestselling nonfiction title.
In the Netherlands, Murat Isik’s novel Be Invisible, a saga about a family of Turkish immigrants in Holland, which won the 2018 Dutch Libris Literature Prize, heads the combined fiction and nonfiction bestseller list. It is followed by Saskia Noort’s new thriller, Stromboli, about a woman seeking solace from a failed marriage on the eponymous Italian island.
The Swedes had Viveca Sten’s In Bad Company atop their May fiction list. It is the 10th volume in the Sandhamn mystery series, three of whose titles have been published in English by AmazonCrossing. At #1 on the nonfiction list was Hans Rosling’s Factfulness, which was published by Flatiron in the U.S. in April, with a blurb from Bill Gates.
