Austin, Tex.–based Literati Book Fairs has announced its expansion into the Mid-Atlantic region, beginning with the 2024–2025 school year. The company will now offer book fairs to pre-K–8 elementary schools in select areas of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia. Previously, fairs were available primarily in the Midwest and South.
Since buying Follett Book Fairs' program in January 2022 and relaunching after a rebrand that March, Literati Book Fairs has experienced rapid growth, reaching more than five million students across 29 states from four distribution centers. It remains the only serious competitor to Scholastic in school book clubs, which raise money for classrooms and teachers. Literati works with more than 150 publishing companies and a number of independent authors, such as Marcus Emerson, author of the Kid YouTuber series.
“This expansion allows us to reach even more families, providing students, librarians, teachers, and parents with access to Literati’s expertly curated book fair,” Barb Wing, senior v-p of sales at Literati, said in a statement. “We're excited to help families support their students at school, in the classroom, and at home through our book fairs, classroom offering, and book clubs for kids.”
Last year, Literati launched Literati Classrooms, an e-commerce platform that enables parents and families nationwide to order books for home and the classroom while contributing to classroom fundraising efforts. Schools can earn additional funds when a child becomes a member of Literati's book box program.
