Deb Futter, president and publisher of Celadon Books, has taken on additional responsibilities as president and publisher of Flatiron Books. She succeeds Flatiron founder Bob Miller, who will depart Macmillan Publishers after 11 years with the company. Flatiron SVP and publisher Megan Lynch has been promoted to EVP, reporting to Futter, overseeing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Flatiron.
Lynch joined Flatiron, from HarperCollins’ Ecco imprint, in 2019, succeeding Amy Einhorn as publisher after the latter was tapped to head up Henry Holt. (Einhorn moved to Crown last year.) Since then, Lynch has overseen the publication of such bestselling books as Hell Bent and The Familiar by Leigh Bardugo, Beyond the Story by BTS, Of Women and Salt by Gabriela Garcia, Olga Dies Dreaming by Xochitl Gonzalez, abd Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry.
Reporting to Lynch are SVP and associate publisher Malati Chavali, SVP and publishing director Julie Will, VP and executive director of publicity Marlena Bittner, VP and executive director of marketing Nancy Trypuc, and VP and editorial director Zachary Wagman, along with executive editors Caroline Bleeke, Christine Kopprash, and Nadxieli Nieto, and editor Kukuwa Fraser.
“Megan has proven herself to be a great publisher and leader,” Jon Yaged, CEO of Macmillan Publishers, said in a statement. “She has driven success across every category. Her tireless devotion to her team and her authors, fabulous taste and editorial judgment, and her uncanny ability to attract some of the brightest stars to Flatiron’s ranks will undoubtedly enable her to lead Flatiron to continued greatness.”
Futter cofounded Celadon in 2019 with fellow Grand Central Publishing veteran Jamie Raab, and has served as president and publisher of the imprint since 2022, when Raab stepped down and was named publisher-at-large at Macmillan. The imprint has published such bestselling authors as Mya-Rose Craig, Erin French, Jean Hanff Korelitz, Steve Martin, Alex Michaelides, and Henry Winkler.
Miller came to Macmillan in 2013 from Workman Publishing, then a standalone company, where he was group publisher for three years. During his tenure at Flatiron, he oversaw the publication of nearly 100 bestsellers, and he has worked with such authors as President Joe Biden, Michael J. Fox, Brad Meltzer, and Oprah Winfrey, among many others.
Calling Futter “a fantastic partner to me and so many others at Macmillan” with “a special knack for finding the right book at the right time and publishing it perfectly,” Yaged added in his statement that “her extensive industry relationships are built on her deep passion for books, which will now be even more impactful in her expanded role.” Of Miller, Yaged said: “He is an industry legend with a unique ability to build successful companies from scratch” and “has always been a joy to work with,” adding: “I can’t thank him enough for the impact he’s made at Macmillan.”
