Kim Shannon has been named SVP of sales at Simon & Schuster, effective September 3. Shannon, who will also become a member of the S&S executive board, will report to EVP and COO Dennis Eulau.
Shannon joins S&S from Penguin Random House, where she has been since 2008. She most recently held the role of EVP of adult retail and education sales and director of sales strategy for the Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group.
In her new role, Shannon will be responsible for sales in all channels, including national accounts, digital and online sales, independents, mass merchants, wholesalers, special markets, and educational sales. Her move to S&S marks a return to the company, as she previously served as director of national accounts for S&S Children's Publishing in 2007–2008. Prior to that, she held positions at Workman and Random House.
“I'm thrilled to be rejoining Simon & Schuster at such an exciting time,” Shannon said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the talented sales and publishing teams to accelerate growth and reach new readers in our rapidly changing marketplace.”
Shannon succeeds the late Gary Urda, who died suddenly on June 24. Urda had served as SVP of sales since 2017.
