Bob Miller, who founded Flatiron Books at Macmillan Publishers in 2013 and left the company earlier this year, has been named CEO at Phaidon Press, effective January 1. He succeeds outgoing CEO Keith Fox, who will step down on December 31.

“We’ve gotten to know Bob over the past several years, and he has impressed us with his creativity, innovative thinking, and love for our business,” said Phaidon board member Lili Lynton, in a statement. “We are excited to see Phaidon flourish under his leadership.”

During his tenure at Flatiron, Miller oversaw the publication of nearly 100 bestsellers, and he has worked with such authors as President Joe Biden, Michael J. Fox, Brad Meltzer, and Oprah Winfrey. Prior to Flatiron, he founded Hyperion at Disney after years of working as an editor at such imprints as Delacorte Press, St. Martin’s Press, Warner Books, and Workman.

“Phaidon has been one of the great names in publishing since it was founded 100 years ago, consistently bringing books of extraordinary beauty and sophistication into the world,” Miller said in a statement. “I look forward to working with the talented Phaidon staff to continue this dedication to quality in everything they do.”

Fox announced his plans to step down last month after 10 years with Phaidon, where he expanded the publisher’s purview beyond its focus on art books and oversaw the acquisitions of the Monacelli Press and Artspace. Under Fox, Phaidon also marked its 100th anniversary.
