Disney Consumer Products has promoted Andrew Sugerman to executive v-p, Disney Publishing Worldwide, taking over as head of the division from Russell Hampton, who stepped down in May. Sugerman has been senior v-p, Disney English, based in Shanghai where he was responsible for over 30 language learning centers across nine cities in China. In addition, Sugerman oversees all global English language learning efforts for Disney Publishing, with licensed products in more than 100,000 classrooms and homes in 50 countries.
Sugerman, who is moving to Glendale, Calif., will report to Robert Chapek, president of Disney Consumer Products. “Andrew has the right skills and leadership experience to continue growing the business through the development of incredible content that can be read and experienced by families around the world across many platforms,” said Chapek. Sugerman will oversee all of Disney Publishing’s businesses, including its core global book and magazine publishing business as well as its digital and learning initiatives
