  • Glenn Beck Re-Ups with S&S; Launches New Imprint

    Glenn Beck has signed a new co-publishing deal with Simon & Schuster. The conservative talk show personality, through his company Mercury Radio Arts, intends to keep releasing titles in a variety of genres through the agreement, following up on the string of hits he has had in, among other categories, non-fiction, fiction and children's books. Beck, who has been at S&S's Threshold Editions, will also be launching his own imprint, Mercury Ink, which will release a mix of titles that interest him.

  • Hyperion, Disney Interactive Sign Sandra Lee to Five Book Deal

    In a deal described as a Disney/ABC strategic partnership, Hyperion and Disney Interactive Media Group have signed Food Network star and bestselling author Sandra Lee and her imprint, SL Books, to a five book deal. Hyperion publisher Ellen Archer acquired world rights.

  • Einstein and Thompson to Take Over LJK Literary

    In the wake of Larry Kirshbaum's announcement that he will be taking the top publishing job at Amazon Publishing, two of the agents at his literary agency, LJK Literary Management, will now take the reigns there. Susanna Einstein and Meg Thompson, who have been at LJK since it was founded in 2005, will now oversee the agency.

  • Associated Press to Publish Wedding Book

    The Associated Press is the latest organization to join the royal wedding book sweepstakes. The AP will publish a book of photographs next week using MyPublishers.com, the photo book self publisher. Twenty-one AP photographers are shooting the day’s events and will upload the selected pictures to MyPublisher over the weekend. Books will be available only through MyPublisher through print-on-demand with no retail distribution planned. Prices have not been set for the untitled book which will be available in hardcover plus a deluxe hardcover edition.

  • Parker Series to Continue at Penguin With New Writers

    In a deal cut by Robert B. Parker's estate, Penguin's Putnam imprint will continue to publish two of the author's most popular series -- Spenser and Jesse Stone -- under the authorship of writers Michael Brandman and Ace Atkins. The Spenser series debuted in 1974 and is made up of 39 novels; the Jesse Stone series began in 1997 and is comprised of nine novels.

    St. Martin's Press has announced the title and pub date for its book from “Tea Party Darling” Christine O’Donnell after inking the deal last December. The house will publish Troublemaker: Let’s Do What it Takes to Make America Great Again on August 16, 2011.
