Viz Media Expands Digital Manga on Comixology
U.S.-based manga publisher and anime distributor Viz Media has reached a deal to add more than 385 volumes of its manga to the Comixology digital comics marketplace.
This is the latest expansion of the Viz manga available for purchase via Comixology and brings the total number of Viz manga available via the digital comics retailer to more than 1500 titles across 220 series. In February Comixology, which is owned by Amazon.com, added more than 600 Viz manga titles to its inventory.
All the English language titles can be read from right to left in the “authentic” manga format in Comixology’s Manga Fixed Format screen mode. Viz Media is jointly owned by two giant Japanese manga publishers, Shueisha and Shogakukan, and acts as the U.S. publishing arm of those houses. The new titles are all published by Hakusensha, a Japanese manga publisher affiliated with Shueisha.
Among the popular titles now available on Comixology are Library Wars by Kiiro Yumi, Skip Beat by Yushiki Nakamura and Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori.
Citing the “flexibility and ease of use the digital format offers,’ Eric Eberhardt, Viz Media’s director of digital marketing said “this substantial library of Hakusensha titles will give fans an even larger array of content to enjoy.”
