Jon J Muth will illustrate the first picture book edition of Bob Dylan’s 1963 protest song, “Blowin’ in the Wind,” which will be published in November by Sterling Children’s Books. The book will include a CD of Dylan’s original recording, which was released on his album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan. “Blowin’ in the Wind” was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.
“Bob Dylan’s timeless message about war and peace is just as resonant with parents and children today as it was almost 50 years ago,” said Frances Gilbert, v-p, publisher of Sterling Children’s Books. “With Jon J Muth’s ethereal and poetic paintings, this picture book will be a breathtaking experience for readers of all generations.”
Several songs by Dylan have been previously been translated into picture books, including Forever Young, illustrated by Paul Rogers (Atheneum), and Man Gave Names to All the Animals, illustrated by Jim Arnosky (Sterling).
