Capstone, a children’s educational and library publisher, has reached a licensing deal with DC Entertainment to create library hardcovers and paper-over-board editions of DC Comics titles. The deal will launch with 24 titles in Fall 2012 and includes worldwide English and some limited Spanish language markets.
This is the latest licensing deal between the two companies. In 2008 Capstone’s Stone Arch Book imprint began publishing DC Comics superheroes chapters books featuring such iconic characters as Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman. In 2011 Capstone launched a line of original chapters books with DC Comics’ Super Pets characters under its Picture Window Books imprint that introduced new readers to DC superheroes and their pets.
Ashley Andersen Zantop, Capstone group publisher and general manager, said Capstone was excited to expand their partnership with DC Comics, “Batman and Superman are two of the most popular comic book figures in the North America. New readers in educational settings will be introduced to some of the world’s greatest Super Heroes, and current fans will discover a new venue for reading their favorite editions.”
