After demand from readers asking for more, Viking Children’s Books will release an e-novella by Gayle Forman called Just One Night – the conclusion to the stories of Allyson and Willem in Just One Day and Just One Year – on May 29. It took one day for Allyson to fall for Willem while they traveled across Europe and it took one year for Willem to find her after they were separated, but in Just One Night, readers will finally see the two reunited.

The novella will be released as an e-book, at about 50 pages long and priced at 99¢, available through Amazon.com, BN.com and iTunes. In a release, Forman explained the impetus behind the novella: “I sensed readers would respond this way, and I even tried writing a longer ending onto Just One Year, but it just sucked all the joy out of it. It felt so anticlimactic. When I started writing Just One Night as its own thing, I realized there was a story to tell. Not just Allyson and Willem and the juicy bits there but all the supporting players, who had been so invested in these two finding each other. They deserved to see Allyson and Willem through. And I realized, the readers did, too.”

To date, more than 260,000 copies of Just One Day and Just One Year are in print, and the books have been sold into 18 territories.

Also on the horizon for Forman: a film adaptation of her novel If I Stay. Warner Bros. is scheduled to release the movie on August 22. There are more than 1.6 million copies of If I Stay and its companion Where She Went in print.
