A Forest Song by Kirsten Hall, illus. by Evan Turk. Random House Studio, $18.99; ISBN 978-0-593-48036-6. Hall arranges lines taken from various poets’ works into a new piece—a mysterious-feeling creation that describes a journey deep into a forest.

Team Awkward: Jojo vs. Middle School by Veeda Bybee and Joy McCullough. Aladdin, $18.99; ISBN 978-1-66595-073-2; $7.99 paper ISBN 978-1-6659-5072-5. Jojo Lopez has a terrible first day of school but when she encounters peers in a hallway, she discovers she’s not alone in having a hard time.
