To mark Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary, licensor Sanrio and its publishing licensees are planning the first Hello Kitty Reading Day this fall. On October 25, Abrams, Perfect Square, Priddy Books, Penguin, Quirk Books, and Sourcebooks will support events at libraries and bookstores across the country.

A downloadable Hello Kitty Reading Day event kit, available at no charge, features activity sheets and suggested programming. Libraries and bookstores that sign up at the website will receive a package of giveaway items, while supplies last.

Hello Kitty book titles run the gamut from nonfiction, such as The Hello Kitty Baking Book, Hello Kitty Nail Art, and Hello Kitty Crochet; novelty titles such as Hello Kitty Loves Mad Libs; and reading and fiction titles such as Hello Kitty: Let’s Read and Hello Kitty: My Home.
