Abrams’s Amulet imprint has launched an online community for YA readers, called Pique. The centerpiece of the program is a website – joined by social media campaigns – that offers background content on new titles, including cover designs, essays, interviews, and more at piquebeyond.com, and via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram under @piquebeyond.
“For us, good young adult novels are a stepping off point to a greater engagement with the world,” Amulet editor-in-chief of Susan Van Metre said in a release. “YA readers are deeply curious and opinionated, and we wanted to create a space where they can find out more about the books and authors who are shaping their worldview and share their thoughts.”
Pique aims to set itself apart by focusing on a strong visual sense and on design, by creating both a visually bold website, and offering content on the evolution of book cover designs on the house’s lists. The site launched on June 25 during ALA, and promotions will continue throughout the summer with giveaways at San Diego Comic-Con and the International Literacy Convention in Boston. Future promotions will include attendance at YA festivals, author tours, contests, and more.
