Three years after the launch of its children's imprint, Little Bee Books, Bonnier Publishing USA has announced that it will pull a buzzy new imprint from its bonnet next year. Yellow Jacket, a middle-grade imprint slated to launch in summer 2018, will be helmed by current Little Bee and Sizzle Press publisher Sonali Fry and publish novels across genres.
Yellow Jacket will launch with four original titles, the bulk of which will be written by debut authors, and plans continuous releases of new titles in subsequent seasons. The imprint will debut three of those titles on next May: two standalones, Stu Truly and Fadeaway, with authors to be announced, and Ask Emily: The Advice Blog, the first entry in a new series from Sheryl and Carrie Berk, the mother and daughter team behind the Cupcake Club series. A sequel to the latter is due next July.
"Middle grade books are critical to the creation of lifelong readers," Fry said in a statement. "Middle graders need access to books that they can relate to and escape in, which is crucial during this period of development in their lives. We’re so proud to be doing our part to create stories that will capture their imagination and further their love of reading."
Sales and distribution will be handled by Simon & Schuster, as they are for Bonnier USA and its current imprints.
