Skybound Entertainment, a multiplatform entertainment company and an imprint of Image Comics, which was founded by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, announced plans to launch Skybound Comet. The new imprint will publish original graphic novels aimed at young adults and middle grade readers, and will begin releasing titles in 2022.
The debut list will feature three graphic novels. Set for release in July 2022 is Clementine Book One, first in a trilogy set in the world of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead; it will be written and drawn by the Eisner Award-winning cartoonist Tillie Walden. The second title, set for release in September 2022, is Everyday Hero Machine Boy OGN by rising star creators Tri Vuong and Irma Kniivila; it’s the story of a robot boy who falls from the sky and finds that his function is to be a hero.
In October 2022, the new imprint will publish Sea Serpent’s Heir Book One, the first book in a fantasy trilogy by creators Mairghread Scott and Pablo Tunica. It’s the story of a teen who spends her time fishing on an idyllic island when she discovers that an ancient and apocalyptic evil presence has been reincarnated within herself.
Sean Mackiewicz, senior v-p and editor-in-chief, Skybound Entertainment, said that Skybound Comet will explore pop culture hits like The Walking Dead from a new perspective, while also developing "entirely new worlds and new characters that we know will capture the hearts of readers of all ages.”
