E-book subscription service Oyster announced the launch of Oyster for Android, making the app available on all Android devices, Kindle Fire, and Nook HD. The service, previously available on iOS devices, has now amassed a library of more than 500,000 titles.
“Since launching last fall, Oyster for Android has been the number one incoming request from readers,” said Eric Stromberg, co-founder and CEO of Oyster. “Ultimately, we want to be available on every platform where people want to read, and this is an important step toward that goal."
Oyster designed the app "from the ground up," deciding against making a "straight translation of Oyster for iOs." The app features a revamped reader, and a new "read time" range on the book detail page that indicates how long it will take, on average, to finish the book.
The service, which partnered with Simon & Schuster in May, is available for $9.99 a month.
