The Boston Globe is republishing three of its special investigative reports on James J. “Whitey” Bulger as e-singles available on Kindle, Nook and iTunes. All three e-books are available for $2.99.
The pieces first appeared in 1988, 1995, and 1998, and all of the investigative pieces were produced by the Globe’s Spotlight Team. All three e-singles will contain updated introductions by the Globe’s Kevin Cullen, who has covered the Whitey Bulger story for years.
“Boston Globe reporters have long been the leading chroniclers of Whitey Bulger, his gang and his clan,” said Martin Baron, editor of the Globe. “These e-books will deliver the Globe's powerful, authoritative narratives to readers in a popular new form.”
The earliest of the special reports, entitled “The Bulger Mystique,” focuses on the story of the two Bulger brothers who took such divergent paths to power. The second special report, “The Story Behind Whitey's Fall,” appeared in 1995, just a few months after Whitey Bulger disappeared. The third title is an investigative report, titled: “Whitey and the FBI.” It details the corrupt relationship between Whitey Bulger and the Boston office of the FBI.
