Random House U.S. is teaming up with Flipboard, a social media-driven platform for curated content, to produce custom digital magazines for two of its authors: Maragaret Atwood and George R.R. Martin. The Atwood magazine will be devoted to her new novel, MaddAdam, while Martin's magazine will be centered on his Song of Ice and Fire series. Both magazines will feature interviews, inside information and other material designed to attract their fans.

Atwood’s Flipboard magazine is called MaddAdam’s World and offers photos and a variety of content related to the post-apocalyptic world of the novel, which is the final volume in a dystopian trilogy. Martin’s Flipboard magazine is called The World of Ice and Fire and is produced by Westeros.org, a Web site of experts on the author. The World of Ice and Fire will offer content on Martin’s novels, comics based on his fiction, gaming, collectibles and more.

Flipboard is a content aggregation platform for tablets and the web that produces curated, carefully designed online publications with content licensed from the rightsholders. Flipboard also allows consumers to create their own customized digital magazines using the Flipboard content feeds.

Amanda Close, senior v-p, digital marketplace development at Random House, said the collaboration offers the opportunity to extend the reach of the house's authors. “We are always looking for innovative ways to connect with readers around the topics that matter to them. Flipboard provides a powerful platform for authors to create absorbing experiences for readers with magazines. We are excited to reach a new audience on Flipboard and facilitate deeper discussion about books across social media.”
