Simon & Schuster has partnered with Scandinavian e-book subscription service Mofibo to make its backlist titles available to readers in Denmark and Sweden.
Through the deal, S&S will make over 20,000 of its backlist titles available in e-book, in both English and local languages, to Mofibo's Scandinavian consumers. Mofibo, which launched a year ago, has, according to S&S, a 60% share of the e-book market in Denmark. The company expanded into Sweden days ago.
Titles in the deal are in various genres, including crime, romance, autobiography and children's. Notable authors whose books are included in the program are Dan Brown, Stephen King and Ernest Hemingway.
Ian Chapman, chief executive and publisher of S&S UK said: "Scandinavia has long been an important international market for English language authors, and Mofibo’s early success makes evident the strong appetite for content in electronic form. A continental-based subscription service is a wonderful opportunity for reader, author, and publisher alike."
