A month after its acquisition of Byliner, the digital publisher of longform journalism and fiction, Vook is publishing Five Fires, by Laura Lippman, its first Byliner original e-book.

Vook publisher and founder Matt Cavnar said the release of Lippman’s book reflected Vook’s commitment to continue to grow the publishing program of Byliner. Cavnar said Vook is asking literary agents for Byliner submissions.

Five Fires will be priced at $2.99 and published via the Byliner platform. The novel will also be available through the Kindle singles program and through all major e-book retailers.

Lippman is a New York Times bestselling author and a former reporter. Five Fires tells the story of a young women who discovers that a series of mysterious fires have been set deliberately. Vook is a digital publishing platform and software developer and acquired the innovative Byliner publishing platform in September.

“Publishing our first Byliner Original with Laura Lippman is a clear signal that Vook is committed to publishing high quality, original ebooks by bestselling authors--continuing our vision of expanding Vook’s platform to authors,” Cavnar said. “We are currently soliciting for new projects and are in some cases paying advances for Byliner Originals.”
