E-book subscription service Oyster is adding a Book Lists feature to expand its ability to offer book recommendations to readers. Subscribers can create personal lists of titles and Oyster has invited a number of well-known authors and publishers to produce their own Book Lists for the service.
Readers can create personalized lists of their favorite books, add a cover image and share on social media. When using Oyster, a subscriber can click on any book in a personalized list and start reading right away.
Authors Michael Chabon and Doris Kearns Goodwin were invited to create their own Book Lists to kickoff the new service along with Lincoln Michel of Electric Literature and Alex Shephard of Melville House. Goodwin’s list includes, among other titles, The Boys of Summer by Roger Kahn and Luckiest Man: The Life and Death of Lou Gehrig by Jonathan Eig. Chabon’s Book List includes Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. LeGuin and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.
