Scribner has announced the creation of Scribner Magazine, a new consumer website that will feature contributions from Scribner authors and editors, as well as from other Simon & Schuster imprints.
The online magazine will include original writing and interactive media, prose and audiobook excerpts, photo galleries, author-curated music playlists, bookseller reviews, and insider looks at the world of publishing. The first edition kicks off with an essay from Anthony Doerr, about the writing of his novel, All The Light We Cannot See, a 2014 National Book Award finalist.
Scribner Magazine, according to the imprint, is inspired by Scribner's Magazine (published by Charles Scribner's Sons from 1887 until 1939), and is a reimagining of the original for the 21st century. “Scribner has a long tradition of publishing some of literature's most distinguished voices," said senior v-p and publisher Nan Graham. "And we hope readers will join us in celebrating the continuation of that legacy at Scribner Magazine.”
