Bookmate, an e-book subscription service founded by Russian investors, is expanding its English language e-book inventory.
The company announced deals with six vendors to bring its library of English e-books to over 200,000 titles. The new companies Bookmate has inked agreements with are distributors Ingram and ePubDirect, and publishers Diversion Books, Legen Press, Casemeat and Head of Zeus. The deal with Ingram will add more than 100,000 titles, and ePubDirect will offer access to titles from Serpents Tail and and Rosetta Books.
Bookmate was started by Russian startup studio Dream Industries in Moscow in 2010. The service launched in Russia and Eastern Europe, and recently expanded to Singapore.
The service claims to have more than 1 million subscribers. Bookmate offers three tiers of access: Free access to a limited number of titles, a standard tier for about $7.65/month and a premium tier for $12.30/month. The service has about 500,000 titles total though reports vary about the number of titles.
