Citing a decline in sales and a bleak financial forecast going forward, All Romance eBooks, LLC, an online e-book retailer specializing in the romance genre, shut down its operations on December 31.
The closing of the e-book retail operation (which includes sister sites OmniLit.com and AReCafe.com) was announced via a notice posted on the AllRomanceebooks.com site.
The note reads, “For the first year since opening in 2006, we will be posting a loss. Despite efforts to maintain and grow our market share, sales and profits have declined. The financial forecast for 2017 isn’t hopeful. We’ve accepted that there is not a viable path forward.”
AllRomance.com was cofounded by Lori James in 2006. The final notice also encourages consumers to download all their purchases and backup their digital libraries in advance of the closing date on December 31.
The final notice also emphasized that anyone who has published content via AllRomanceebooks.com or “in our Publishing in Partnership Program,” will receive additional information on the closing by email or they can contact the site’s operators at info@allromanceebooks.com.
