After three months of beta testing, MetaComet will release AuthorPortal.com to publishers at BookExpo America. The AuthorPortal.com platform grants authors access to their royalty statements and centralizes their contracts, manuscripts, and other documents in one easy-to-navigate interface. AuthorPortal.com also stores contracts and other information in the cloud and performs regular back-ups and security updates to ensure the safety of the documents. In addition, the platform can be directly integrated into MetaComet’s Royalty Tracker system.
MetaComet president David Marlin said the company incorporated a number of recommendations made by the publishers who tested the system, one of which was Candlemark & Gleam. "AuthorPortal.com is already a valuable tool for any publisher trying to manage their data and documents in a sensible, organized fashion,” says Kate Sullivan, publisher of Candlemark & Gleam. “and it's only going to get better from here.”
"Our objective is to bring the powerful features that the Big 5 [publishers] and Amazon provide their authors to the relationship-oriented independent publishers,” Marlin says.
