Helen Ditlow, who with her husband Anthony launched Listening Library in 1955, died June 26. She was 92.
The Ditlows split the duties of Listening Library with Anthony contacting authors and arranging recording sessions and Helen running sales, manufacturing, and distribution. As the business grew their son Tim served as publisher and put the focus of the company on the production of children’s literature where he acquired the Harry Potter series for the company. Random House acquired Listening Library in 1999.
