David Bertin, a longtime Macmillan sales representative covering the Mid-Atlantic region, died in Langhorne, Pa., on May 6. He was 79.

A staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, Bertin served in active duty from 1956 to 1959, and remained on reserve duty until 1965.

He began his career in the book industry at the library products and services company Brodart in Williamsport, Pa. He then moved on to Macmillan, where he stayed for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, three sisters, a son, a daughter, and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Mary Medical Center's Cardiac Care Excellence Fund.
