Alan Rutsky, CFO of Rizzoli International Publications, died on June 28. He was 67.
Rutsky graduated from Brooklyn College in 1970 with a Bachelor's degree in accounting. A publishing veteran, Rutsky spent 24 years at Abrams, where he rose through the ranks to become executive v-p and COO of the company.
In 2003, Rutsky joined Rizzoli as its CFO, where he oversaw a number of acquisitions, as well as the opening of the Rizzoli Bookstore in the NoMad neighborhood of Manhattan in 2015.
Before becoming ill, Rutsky was in the process of retiring from Rizzoli.
