Darlene Delillo, global program manager at Simon & Schusters' Atria Books imprint, died on October 25, after a long battle with cancer. She was 65.
Delillo’s career in book publishing spanned 43 years, including time spent working at Dell, HarperCollins and Avon Books, where she rose to the position of senior v-p and publisher. Most recently she spent seven years at Atria/Simon & Schuster managing a number of Atria Brands, among them, Rhonda Byrnes' The Secret, Strebor Books, Cash Money Content and Beyond Words. Delillo retired from Atria in June.
Citing Delillo’s “tireless work” Atria publisher Judith Curr said clients and partners consistently expressed "their great admiration, personal affection, and respect for Darlene’s attention to detail and spirit of cooperation.” Curr added: "She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.”
A memorial service will be held for relatives and friends at Nazare Memorial Home on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8:30 a.m.-9:45 a.m. The funeral will move to Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst, for a 10 a.m. funeral mass. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack.
