Curt Stewart, a key account executive at Macmillan, died suddenly on September 11 after a short illness. He was 63.
Stewart joined Macmillan in 2000 and represented its mass market books, but in recent years transitioned to work across all Macmillan titles. He worked on the publisher's Kroger, Hudson, and Paradies accounts.
"Curt was a dedicated and enthusiastic sales person who was beloved by his colleagues and his accounts," Macmillan v-p of children's sales Jennifer Gonzalez wrote in a letter to staff. "A true gentleman, possessing great manners, a devilishly wry wit and an endearing Southern drawl, he was always thoughtful with his comments and cared deeply about the company and our success."
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his daughter Candice, his son-in-law Carl Andre, and his two grandsons, Curtis and Nico.
