Clarence C. Strowbridge, the retired past president of Dover Publications, died on August 5. He was 89.
Hired by Dover in 1959, Strowbridge began his career as an editor, editing such titles as Classic American Short Stories, Short Story Masterpieces by American Women Writers, and 100 Favorite English and Irish Poems. He was later promoted to v-p and and executive v-p and editor-in-chief of the publisher.
In September 2000, he became president of Dover Publications, and retired in October 2005. After retiring, he remained on as president emeritus, continuing to assist the Dover editorial team, before retiring in 2012.
