Marybeth Tregarthen, production director for Disney Publishing, died on October 31 in Brightwaters, N.Y. She was 59. The cause was cancer.
Tregarthen spent more than 29 years at Disney Publishing, where colleagues admired her love of all things Disney—including her creative Disney-themed costumes for the annual company Halloween party—and her attention to detail. "She was passionate about both upholding the corporate brand image and doing her best for Disney authors and illustrators," said the Disney Publishing team in a joint statement, "often going on press to approve print jobs, coming up with creative suggestions for design specs, and ensuring that books were delivered on schedule."
Prior to Disney, Tregarthen served as a production manager at Paragon House and production editor at Watson Guptill. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Villanova University in 1987.
"Marybeth was a strong, smart, industry leader who had a huge heart and a playful personality," said her Disney colleagues. "Although Marybeth left this world too soon, she certainly packed a lot of fun and adventure into her life. She will be truly missed by all."
Tregarthen is survived by her brother William Tregarthen and her nephew jack.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the memory of Marybeth Tregarthen to the Hospice Care Network's Children and Family Bereavement Program.
