Oregon-based audiobook publisher Blackstone is expanding into print with the launch of Blackstone Publishing, which will release classic and original contemporary titles in both print and e-book, beginning in fall 2015.
Blackstone Publishing's first original title will be James W. Huston’s new thriller The Blood Flag, which goes on sale in e-book, print, and audiobook on November 10. Also in November, the publisher is releasing a collection of Western titles, including Louis L’Amour’s A Man Called Trent and The Rider of Lost Creek and Zane Grey’s Silver Mane and The Water Hole. Blackstone estimates it will release 15-20 titles under the new venture in 2016.
The publisher will be working with Baker & Taylor and Ingram as its two biggest national distributors, but will also be working directly with retail chain stores, libraries, and other distributors.
Blackstone follows in the footsteps of fellow audiobook publisher Tantor Media, which added print to the mix in 2012.
