Daniel Handler, aka Lemony Snicket, will serve as master of ceremonies for the 65th National Book Awards on November 19, 2014, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Handler, who chaired the judging panel for the 2008 NBA in Young People’s Literature, is the first emcee to have published extensively in both the adult and children’s categories. As Snicket, he is the author of two children’s book series, A Series of Unfortunate Events and All the Wrong Questions series, among other titles. As Handler, he has published three adult novels, with a fourth, We Are Pirates, to be published in February 2015; he also writes literary criticism, and recently established the Lemony Snicket Prize for Noble Librarians Faced with Adversity, at the American Library Association. And, having worked as a professional bartender, he mixes a mean Old Fashioned.
