Amazon has chosen D.M. Pulley of Shaker Heights, Ohio, as the grand prize winner in its seventh annual Breakthrough Novel Award contest.
Pulley's mystery, The Dead Key, is expected to be released in digital and print editions by Amazon imprint Thomas & Mercer in early 2015. Pulley will receive a $50,000 advance and a publishing contract.
The four category winners will each receive publishing contracts and a $15,000 advance. The finalists are Flora Solomon (general fiction, A Pledge of Silence), Norma Darcy (romance, The Bluestocking and the Rake), Chuck Grossart (science fiction/fantasy/horror, The Mengele Effect) and Carrie Anne Noble (young adult Fiction, The Mermaid’s Sister).
