This month, new deals for a star of MasterChef Australia, the minds behind NYC hotspots Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad, and the host of Korean Food Made Simple.
Jonathan Karp at Simon & Schuster has acquired two cookbooks from cook and physical trainer Dan Churchill, who drew international attention after a 2013 appearance on MasterChef Australia. The first book, Dudefood, is slated for April 2015 publication, and will combine Churchill’s interests in cooking and health, while targeting men who want to cook but don’t know where or how to begin. Simon & Schuster acquired world rights, including first serial and audio, from William Lance Reynolds at HappyDaysMedia, Inc. A second cookbook will follow in 2016.
Aaron Wehner and Julie Bennett at Ten Speed Press have acquired The Nomad Cookbook, a two-in-one cookbook from chef Daniel Humm, restaurateur Will Guidara, and bar director Leo Robitschek, of New York City restaurants Eleven Madison Park and The NoMad. Scheduled for a 2015 publication, the cookbook will feature sweet and savory recipes, as well as cocktails from The NoMad restaurant and the James Beard Award–winning NoMad Bar. David Black at the David Black Agency represented the authors.
Justin Schwartz at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has acquired, at auction, world rights to Korean Food Made Simple from Judy Joo, host of a show of the same name on the Cooking Channel, Iron Chef U.K., and judge on Iron Chef America. The book is described as a collection of 125 recipes that make Korean food easy enough for American home cooks. Creative Artists Agency represented Joo.
