J.R. Ward, best known for her bestselling paranormal Black Dagger Brotherhood series, is writing a new contemporary series about a wealthy, aristocratic Kentucky family, who made their fortune from bourbon. Penguin Random House imprint New American Library will publish the first Bourbon Kings book, in hardcover, in July 2015.
The books have already been optioned for television by Endemol Studios, the entertainment and production company behind Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and Wipeout.
“The Bourbon Kings are just like my Black Dagger Brotherhood vampires, flawed heroes for strong women who live and love in a vivid, ever-changing world of passion and excitement." said Ward, who lives in Kentucky.
Ward's novels total more than 15 million in print worldwide. Dark Lover, the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, was published in 2005.
