In an e-mail sent to its customers earlier this week, owners of Village Books in Roslindale, Mass., said they were closing the store after six years in business. “Due to the economic downturn and changing customer buying habits we must close our doors,” wrote Jane Connelley and Lorie Spencer, the sisters who owned the store. “We have labored long and hard over this decision not only because it is giving up our beloved store but it means saying goodbye to all of you. You have become wonderful friends and an important part of our lives. We will miss you all terribly.”
Village Books will be closing over the next six weeks, with closing sales set to begin July 1. Customers who bring in their loyalty card or the closing e-mail notice prior to that date will receive a 20% discount off their purchase
