In the wake of reports that the building housing Rizzoli Bookstore's flagship store in New York City is facing demolition, the company announced that the store will remain open while it actively seeks a new space.
The store has operated out of its current location for 29 years, selling illustrated books on architecture, interior design, fashion, photography, cookery, and the fine and applied arts, as well as literature, and foreign language books. As of now, Rizzoli does not have a timeline for its relocation.
In a press release, the company said it has been "touched by the outpouring of public appreciation for the 57th Street bookstore as an important part of New York City's cultural life, and looks forward to remaining a vital part of the city’s fabric for many decades to come."
