Albertine, the newly opened New York City bookstore of the French Embassy, launches its events series with the six-day Festival Albertine, beginning Tuesday (Oct. 14). Curated by Greil Marcus, the festival features Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner, Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz, author Mary Gaitskill, graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi, and Nobel Prize-winning mathematician John Nash.

This week also marks the grand reopening of Third Street Books in its new location in McMinnville, Ore. Know Knew Books in Los Altos, Calif., also reopens under new management and with new staff after taking a two-month hiatus. And Burton’s Book Store in Greenport, N.Y., has a new owner after being on the market for just over half a year.
