St. Martin's Minotaur Books imprint has hired McKenna Jordan, owner of Murder By the Book in Houston, Tex., as a dedicated outside publishing consultant, a newly created position. Jordan will continue to serve in her daily role as owner of the bookstore.
According to Minotaur, Jordan will be making her "unique and successful experience in the positioning, selling, and marketing of mysteries and crime fiction available on an exclusive basis to Minotaur’s staff of editors and marketers." Jordan will be overseen by Kelley Ragland, Minotaur editorial director and associate publisher.
“We are delighted to welcome such a creative and enthusiastic partner to the Minotaur team," said Ragland. "McKenna’s knowledge of the field and history as a friend to authors and publishers alike makes her the perfect match for our dedicated editors and marketers, and we look forward to working together to help our books reach an even wider audience.”
Jordan has owned Murder By The Book, which specializes in crime fiction, since 2009. She was recently named one of the "50 Most Fascinating People of 2014" by the Houston Chronicle, as well as one of Houston's "100 Creatives of 2014" by the Houston Press.
"After years of hand-selling their titles on the front lines at Murder By The Book, I hope to be able to bring a unique, first-hand insight about how best to market and promote Minotaur titles to all consumers,” said Jordan.
