Finalists Announced for Indies Choice/E.B. White Read-Aloud Awards: Booksellers at ABA member stores have until Wednesday April 6 at midnight to choose the winners in eight categories. Among the awards is one for Indie Champion. The nominees are: Dave Eggers, Louise Erdrich, Loren Long, Celeste Ng, Richard Russo, and Maggie Stiefvater.

Art Bookstore Hopes for Good ‘Karma’ on the Lower East Side: The New York-based bookseller and art gallery, Karma lost the lease for its Manhattan store at the end of February. The store will reopen on Orchard Street on Friday with a book launch with artist Paul Lee (Carousel). Karma also has a store in Amagansett, N.Y.

Albertine Adds French e-Books: New York City’s French reading room and bookshop in New York City now has 28,000 French-language e-books available on its website, Albertine.com, from 88 French publishers. The store plans to grow it over the next few months.

Papercuts JP to Offer Digital Audio Through Libro.fm: Kate Layte, owner of the one-and-a-half year old Boston bookstore, says that she is “delighted” to be the first independent bookstore on the East Coast to offer DRM-free digital audiobooks through the iTunes app.
